Sitting
on the shores of Lake Erie is the state
of Pennsylvania, the second state to become
one of the United States of America. Many
of America’s most historic sites
are located within Pennsylvania’s
borders, including the site of the signing
of the Declaration of Independence. This
gives Pennsylvania a lot of bragging rites
and makes it the “Cradle of Independence”.
Pennsylvania’s largest city is named
Philadelphia, and is the home of the Liberty
Bell.
There is a seriously large Dutch community
in Pennsylvania, and the Dutch people
were the first Europeans to settle the
Pennsylvania area in the 1700s. There
are also many Mennonites and German Amish
in Pennsylvania, which is a good thing
if you are a tourist and you really love
solid wood furniture and rustic settings.
On the opposite side of that spectrum;
Andy Warhol, the leader of the Pop Art
movement, was born in Pennsylvania.
