One
of the most northerly states in The United
States of America, Maine can be a very
cold place indeed. Sitting on the border
with the Canadian provinces called New
Brunswick and Quebec, Maine juts out to
the north like a finger. Maine has a lot
of territory that touches the Atlantic
Ocean, but this is only a hospitable place
during the warmest months of the year.
Maine is also the north most state in
a region known as New England, and is
the only state in the union to border
on one other American state (i.e. the
state of New Hampshire). Maine is the
home of the most easterly city in the
United States, which aptly named Eastport.

When
most people think of Maine they think
of fresh Lobster. Like similar places
in Canada, Maine has a busy maritime industry
that services places all over the world.
When Americans want domestic food that
is very expensive, they look to restaurants
to provide fresh lobster, which usually
has to be flown in from across the country.
Just as an example, when one is in Maine
during the lobster season going to the
right place can get you an all you can
eat lobster dinner for five dollars. If
you want the same kind of thing in Nevada,
lobster from Maine might be as high as
thirty dollars. People might go to the
West Coast for seafood to keep the prices
down, but in places like Las Vegas it’s
a prestige thing.
