The
State of Hawaii is composed of a small
chain of islands in the middle of the
Pacific Ocean. Formed by violent volcanic
eruptions many tens of thousands of years
ago Hawaii continues to smoke and fume
to this day, with many a village being
evacuated as molten hot lava destroys
everything in its path. There are around
1.2 million people living on the islands,
which is a lot of people considering the
size of the islands and how far from they
are from the mainland. Hawaii is big enough
to be self sufficient, although some of
the more remote islands can be a bit rustic.
Hawaii was inhabited before the arrival
of the “pale face”. Hawaii
had a line of kings and its own unique
history and peoples. Much of the culture
of Hawaii’s first peoples suffered
the same fate as their distant cousins
on the main land. Only recently have the
native peoples of Hawaii come into their
own, testing America’s laws in area’s
such as racial equality.

Hawaii
had the mixed blessing as being one of
the first places officially recognized
the world over as a tourist destination.
While people have always gone to better
climates to relax Hawaii came of age when
jets and cruise ships started popping
up all over the place. Every year Hawaii
has a huge influx of traffic, and the
islands remain chocked full of people
going all over the place. This has lead
to heavy urbanization of the islands,
destroying what little is left of “natural
Hawaii”. Hawaii is also an important
stopover for planes crossing the Pacific,
as all plains need to refuel by the time
they reach Hawaii.
