When
most people think of Florida they think
of orange juice, resort hotels, and Canadians
going on vacation. Known as the “sunshine
state”, Florida is a long finger
of land that extends out into the Atlantic
Ocean. Florida marks part of the eastern
boundary of the Gulf of Mexico and is
one of the points in the infamous mystery
zone known as “The Bermuda Triangle”.
Florida made it into the news during the
2000 election year when it was the state
that broke the tie in what is considered
one of the most corrupt elections in the
history of the United States of America.
There are many jokes still circulating
how the fate of a country was decided
by a small group of senior citizens who
were so old they had to be helped to the
poles.

Florida
is also known for one of its most infamous
cities, Miami. Miami has a very large
Cuban and Haitian population and was (and
still is) a hotbed of drug smuggling.
Miami was the setting for the movie “Scarface”,
and was also re-named “Vice City”
to be the setting of the fourth instalment
of the Grand Theft Auto video game.
