Connecticut
is a small state in comparison to states
like Utah and Colorado. One of the original
thirteen colonies that decided to rebel
against the British, and is also one of
the states that make up the area known
as New England. The title of New England
was given to the area because it was first
slotted for settlement back in the 1600s.
Connecticut has a lot of history compared
to some other places in North America,
and due to its location on the Eastern
Seaboard it has been settled a long time.
The first people to arrive from Europe
were Dutch, not English. The English would
eventually come to dominate the area later
in American history.
Like many places in America, Connecticut
is influenced by it nearest “population
colossus”. As most of California
is influenced by Los Angeles, many places
in Connecticut are influenced by New York
City (naturally located in New York State).
Yale University is located in Connecticut
and is considered one of the best places
in the United States is one wants a serious
education.
