One
of the smallest states in The United
States of America, New Jersey was
also one of the first states to be
permanently settled by Europeans.
The majority of those Europeans were
Dutch, and they would go on to make
a city known as New Amsterdam, which
would eventually become New York City.
New Jersey would then become an English
Colony and be named after the English
Island of Jersey. New Jersey was one
of the thirteen colonies that revolted
against British rule in the American
Revolution. Both British and American
armies moved though New Jersey, as
it was a strategically important state
to possess. In order to get an advantage
over their opponents, and the states
became a strategic objective for both
sides. Later came the “Crossing
of The Delaware” where New Jersey
became a pivotal spot indeed.
