One
of the oldest strip clubs in Los Vegas,
Glitter Gulch is located on Fremont Street
under the canopy of the “Fremont
Street Experience”. More or less
what you would expect out of a mid-quality
peeler bar the “GG” gives
Fremont Street the kind of feel and atmosphere
that one would expect from a place known
to many as “Sin City”. It
comes complete with large video boards
facing the street showing everyone what
they can expect if they come inside.
While much of the infamous Strip has been
pacified and watered down, Fremont Street
and the casinos that continue operate
along its length aren’t the kind
of place you would bring your kids. Still,
for those of us who survived childhood
its good to know that there’s a
place that people can go to blow off some
steam, spend some serious money, and meet
with people that still eat at places like
McDonald’s.
The
atmosphere inside is described as a small
to medium sized room with one main stage
and three alternate stages. There are
large video boards outside showing off
the kind of girls that one would find
inside, and it puts some real colour into
the area. Dress is casual, and most of
the people that you meet at the door are
friendly enough that you don’t feel
like you’re talking to cattle. The
big establishments tend to push their
employees to the brink; many people who
have visited Vegas have noted that while
the service was excellent they tended
to feel sorry for the people who were
working there, especially the “headline”
staff.
Another one of the cool things about Glitter
Gulch is its sign. It really fits into
Fremont Street and gives you a feeling
that this is still the Wild West. Created
in the 1950s it remains one of the classic
insignias of Vegas. Where else will you
get to see a titanic sexy cowgirl decked
out in neon?
