This
was one of the highlights of the Mamanuca
Islands. For about 100 US you get an awesome
day. I had 10 alcoholic drinks. The barbecue
lunch was excellent also. I could get
seconds and thirds, no problem. The only
issue I had was the overcrowding on the
boat. The boat was packed and there was
less room then I thought. But other then
that it was amazing. The boat stops at
Modriki Island for snorkelling and the
beach. I collected tons of shells from
the beach and the snorkelling was the
best I experienced while in Fiji.
Modriki is the island where Castaway with
Tom Hanks was shot on. The funny thing
was, my cell phone worked on the island.
I thought that was unreal.
The
price for this tour was one of the rare
jewels you'll find in Fiji. Most stuff
on the islands is overpriced for Paris
Hilton Wannabes and their little dogs
too. And most of it isn't even that good.
The only thing that got me down about
the experience was that the sails were
never hoisted. What's the point in taking
a sailboat if you never feel the wind.
There was plenty of it. But the hosts
never budged. Another great part of this
experience is going to the Kava ceremony.
You stop at a small Fijian village and
get to meet locals and the poverty hidden
on many other islands. Unlike their Mexican
counterparts, Fijians try to show themselves
as an enlightened society but they are
sexist and have the same problems as third
world nations. I found the Indo-Fijians
far more appealing than the local tribes.
