There
is a shrinking number of historic buildings
in the city of Toronto. In the Summerhill
neighbourhood in Toronto, their lies a
Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO)
store build from the remains of an old
train station. It is Canda’s largest
Liquor store. The painstaking restoration
of its Beaux-Arts edifice of the decaying
station took around a year. At one time
it was a Canadian Pacific Railway station;
from 1916 to 1930 it served to help people
who lived outside of the city transfer
from train to train. A flagship store,
Summerhill underwent a metamorphosis to
restore its original charm. The renovators
removed layers after layers of bad construction.
The store has a three-story-high ceiling
in the great hall and is a wonderful place
to shop for booze.
