Nepal
is a land locked country sandwiched in
between India and China. Its capital is
Kathmandu and it is considered one of
the most exotic places to travel. The
country is long and thin, basically following
the shape of the mountains. In fact Nepal
is very mountainous, and is known all
over the world as a place where truly
hardcore climbers go to practice their
craft. In fact Nepal is so mountainous
that it is home to Mt. Everest, the highest
place on earth. Mt. Everest is over 8850
meters high, and anyone who climbs it
easily makes world headlines if they so
desire.
Nepal is not a wealthy country, with most
of the people who live there having to
grow their own food. The Nepalese practice
a mix of Hinduism and Buddhism, and its
people are a true mix. At the moment Nepal
is ruled by a “former Democracy
with an attached system of Monarchy”
that traces itself back into history.
But like anyone who lives too close to
the Chinese border (i.e. Tibet) the people
of Nepal are often exposed to the political
machinations of the Maoist Chinese Hegemony.

Recently
there has been a real turn of events in
Nepal. It seems that there has always
been a pull between democratic/capitalist
and socialist/communist ideas in Nepal.
Recently the countries Prince killed his
entire family, and after dieing of a more-or-less
botched suicide one of his uncles dissolved
the government and declared martial law.
This started a long civil war and exactly
what it going to happen in the future
is still up in the air.
