Namibia
is located on the south west side of the
African content. It gained independence
only recently, and so is still in the
process of developing its national identity.
Until 1990 Namibia was “occupied”
by the country of South Africa, but a
group of armed activists (terrorists to
some, freedom fighters to others) decided
that they wanted freedom from South African
rule. Since then Namibia has become a
democratic country headed by a Present
elected by the people.
Namibia has a dry and arid climate. While
there is a variation in terrain in Namibia
most of the country is classified as desert,
with much of the lands used for food being
heavily irrigated. Namibia relies heavily
on mining for its income, as well as depending
on farming to feed the country and stay
independent. While Namibia has gained
its independence from South Africa it
still has very close ties with that country,
both culturally and financially.
