Cape
Cod is a long crescent-shaped peninsula
forming the easternmost portion of the
state of Massachusetts. To the south of
Cape Cod are two other famous places called
Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Cape
Cod is to America as Cape Breton or Newfoundland
is to Canada, supplying many parts of
North America with fresh shellfish such
as lobsters. Cape Cod is known as an excellent
place to go pleasure sailing, as well
as a good place to visit if one likes
the “romance of the sea”.
Cape Cod has a serious tourist industry
which functions mainly during its summer
months.

Cape
Code, due to its location on the Atlantic
Ocean and its longitude in relation to
Europe, was discovered early in America’s
history, around 1600. It was also settled
rather early, with most people moving
inland to form cities like Boston. Cape
Code is a natural harbour and was recognized
as a safe place to shelter from a storm.
One of the interesting places to visit
in Cape Cod is the “Marconi Site”,
the site of the first two-way transoceanic
radio transmission.
