Located
in the State of Georgia, Atlanta is one
of the major population centers and production
centers of what is still called the “Old
South”. It is the state capital
and is known for its humid weather. During
the American Civil War it took quite a
beating, and was nearly burned to the
ground. It was later reconstructed and
many in Atlanta are very proud of the
determined nature of their state and their
city. Atlanta was used as the setting
for the movie “Gone With The Wind”
and the pedigrees that featured so heavily
in the move still have a role to play
in the Atlanta of today.

There
has always been an issue of race in Atlanta.
Many events that occurred in Atlanta during
the 20th century helped define the need
for equality in America. Atlanta was one
of the centers of the American Civil Right
Movement and was the birthplace of Martin
Luther King. When one asks both residents
and visitors about Atlanta one gets two
pictures. On one hand Atlanta is known
as a kind city, with a people that are
friendly and polite. On the other side
is a darker Atlanta, filled with conspiratorial
whispers and hidden underground business
connections. In reality Atlanta is like
any other city in the world, working hard
to get by in a world that won’t
stop changing.
